医師「どんな症状が出たのですか」
太郎「背中から、肩、腕の方まで蕁麻疹のようになりました」

Doctor:  What kind of reaction did you have to that medicine?
Taro:  I have had something like a rash all over my back, shoulder and upper arms.

＜解説＞
アレルギー反応は免疫という働きで起こる予定外の副作用です。
Allergic reaction is defined as adverse drug reactions caused by
immunologic mechanisms.


そして、なんで恐いかというと、その反応は使った薬の量や、いくつかの薬
どうしの反応やその患者さんの薬の消化吸収具合と、関係なくおこるからです。
    The reaction does not appear to be dose dependent and it is not caused
by drug interaction or abnormalities of absorption or elimination.    


アレルギーの症状や引き起こされる障害は、たくさんあります。

痒み　　　　　　　itching
発疹　　　　　　　eruption　(skin rash )
ショック　　　　　shock
肝臓を悪くした　　liver disorder  
腎炎　　　　　　　glomerulonephritis
喘息発作　　　　　asthma attack
肺炎　　　　　　　acute pulmonary infiltration
発熱　　　　　　　(Drug ) fever

特に最近はアトピーの人が多いので注意が必要ですね。
でも、アトピーの人は、特別なりやすいわけではないのですが、なると反応が強くでることがあります。
    Atopic patients are not predisposed to drug allergy but may have more sever reactions.

predispose to   は、(病気に)かかりやすくする　　という意味ですね。
